The two biggies that set them apart are the disordereds’ motives and levels of self awareness. In other words, you’d have to get the N/S to be open and forthcoming about the inner workings of his mind if you wanted clarification. As always, you can count out the Narc or Socio for assistance. Unless you crack their heads open like coconuts and unravel the twisted little rats nests that dwell within, that ain’t happening. Those truths are tucked securely away right beside Jimmy Hoffa and D.B. Cooper and the teensy pile of charred ash and grime that used to be the Narc’s conscience.

Six Things You Should Know About Psychopathic Personalities

  1. These people don’t suffer from psychosis, they are devoid of morals. They’re not crazy, they’re evil. They know right from wrong but they consciously choose to do wrong if it serves their own needs.
  2. This is a permanent condition. They will never change. You cannot help them.
  3. Every social situation is a competition/contest/game to them. Even the insignificant stuff. Your confused protests of “But it’s NOT a competition!” mean precisely dick and squat.
  4. They will not say or do anything that doesn’t benefit themselves in some way on some level.
  5. If you “do something to them” they will not forget about it until they have satisfied themselves by punishing you. If they see an opportunity for revenge fifty years later they will take it.
